As a fan of the earlier Anita Blake books, this book really disappointed me.
The first few chapters start off great, we have zombies/zombie porn, and for once Anita is on good terms with the branch of officers visiting, it was all set up to be like an earlier book. However, after those few chapters, most of the book is about Anita's personal life, most of it is infuriating (so she needs to add another lover to their marriage but it can't be someone she actually loves, it needs to be a tiger) and alot of it is about Asher (so done with his jealous crap).
After reading Dead Ice I am more convinced then ever that Anita should just run away with Nicky.
The plot is also pretty predictable if you read close enough, which took some of the mystery out of the story. What saved this book, and what will make me read the next one, is that Manny re-appears and he and Anita work together, Anita and Larry sort of work out their differences, Anita and the agents being actual human beings to each other. It had great potential, but too much personal stuff got in the way of the actual plot.

Zoals gewend neemt hoofdpersonage Anite Blake ons mee op een nieuw avontuur, vol gevaar, spanning in haar alledaagse levensstijl. In dit avontuur komt een geheim van het verleden aankloppen terwijl Anita bezig is met het oplossen van een nieuwe bovennatuurlijke zaak, zombie prositutie. Maar zelfs dit is anders dan normaal. De zombies zijn niet leeg. Er staart iets terug in de camera, angst.

Laurell K.Hamilton neemt je mee op een nieuw avontuur in een goed opgebouwd verhaal. Ik had geen moeite om in het verhaal te komen, je viel er vanzelf in. aangenaam om te lezen en moeilijk om neer te leggen.
