I bought Atomised on a Friday morning at Schiphol Airport on my way to the Algarve for a relaxing weekend together with my partner and was unable to get to far away from it the whole weekend until I had read the epilogue on the plane returning to Amsterdam. I have read many books in this genre and am also familiar with much of the material quoted including some of the places mentioned in Houellebecq´s Atomised, what I had not bargained for was a certain reflection I experienced after coming out of the book, I was taken aback by the impact its story held, it seemed to have hit a nerve in my very being and I must say I was very impressed with the authors skilful manipulation of fact and fiction as to allow characters in the book to speak the unspeakable on subjects that in parts of the world would bring spontaneous stoning to any one daring to utter an opinion on such matters. I enjoyed this work immensely and look forward to reading Houellebecq again. Top drawer! signed, Major Influence
