Joel Salatin had ik gezien in de documentaire Food Inc. en kwam ik nog eens tegen in het boek van Michael Polan, The omnivore's dilemma. Dit boek gaat over dezelfde thema's nl. hoe kleinschalige boerderijen uit de markt gespeeld worden door de industriële landbouw in samenwerking met overheidsregulaties. Maar dit boek gaat ook over het belang van dierenwelzijn, respect voor de bodem, compost, de lokale sociale samenhang enz. Enerzijds filosofisch maar ook met praktische tips op het einde van elk van de 22 hoofdstukken. Een echte aanrader. Gezond boerenverstand die weet wat niet normaal is in onze voedselketen.
