De Engelstalige Rough Guides viert in 2012 zijn 30-jarig bestaan. Tijd dus voor een feestje en dat gebeurt door middel van een nieuwe uitgave van de gids. Gebleven zijn de grote hoeveelheid informatie, de korte introductie met daarbij een opsomming van de hoogtepunten voor bezoekers, het hoofdstuk Basics met aandacht voor vervoer, accommodatie, eten en drinken en evenementen, dan het leeuwendeel Guide met bezienswaardigheden per streek/stad en als laatste een klein hoofdstuk met een korte geschiedenis en boek- en filmfragmenten. Nieuw is de full colour lay-out, meer foto's, kleurrijke kaarten, de highlights per gebied en de top vijf lijstjes van de auteurs. In deze reisgids voor Barcelona o.a. aandacht voor de Ramblas, Barri Gotic, Sagrada Familia, Parc Guell en de omgeving buiten de stad. Kleine tot zeer kleine druk.
