Deze Engelstalige gids begint met een korte introductie over de eeuwige stad en een opsomming van twintig hoogtepunten voor bezoekers: de kerken, kunstschatten en culinaire aanraders. Hierna volgt tot pagina 36 het voor de Rough Guides gebruikelijke hoofdstukje 'Basics' met buitenlandse verbindingen, aankomst, vervoer, veiligheid etc. Vervolgens het gidsgedeelte met dertien hoofdstukken over de verschillende wijken van Rome en tips voor dagtochten buiten de stad. Er is veel informatie over de bezienswaardigheden, restaurants, accommodatie en vervoer. Met plattegronden en kaartjes. Tot slot vanaf pag. 297 een klein hoofdstuk met wat geschiedenis, drie boekfragmenten, en een korte lijst met boekentips waarin ook recente titels zijn opgenomen. Met een woordenlijst, register en wat kleine kleurenfoto's. Een zeer informatieve en praktische gids voor de zelfstandige reiziger. Geschiedenis en cultuurliefhebbers zullen er een gids bij moeten hebben voor uitgebreidere achtergronden. In deze druk zijn kleurenfoto's toegevoegd en de lay-out en kaarten hebben een kleurtje gekregen. Kleine tot zeer kleine druk.
