The lifestyle and surroundings of the Norseman are discribed well. But in my opinion the novel had to much conversation and romance. I liked the brotherhood and honor but it lacked battle.

An impressive Viking saga

This is a truly superb saga from the time of the Vikings. The story absorbs you and takes you with it as if you were walking beside Eyvind and Somerled. You can feel their emotions as if it were your own. Especially intriguing is the battle that Eyvind has to fight against himself. Break a bloodsworn oath to Somerled or bring Somerleds'evil plans to a stop. A must read for lovers of great sagas.
