This book has a lot of interesting things to say. It is about mental illness, boy-father relations, motorcycles, zen and philosophy. So if you want to read exclusively about one of these topics, you should look somewhere else. If you are curious to see how you can combine all these topics this should be an interesting read.

If you are truly interrested in philosophy, or want to know what philosophy is about, forget this book! This book, which has been much talked about, is a borring, uninterresting and not in the least philosophical. In fact i never finished it, i got to the last 100 pages, and im incredulous i came so far.

Met gemak het meest inspirerende boek dat ik gelezen heb. Ik heb het boek de eerste keer gelezen tijdens een sabbatical in Azie. Het boek paste prima bij onze backpacking trip. Maar ook zonder die achtergrond pakt dit boek je beet en als je geluk hebt nestelt de boodschap zich: het gaat om kwaliteit, doe dingen met aandacht en neem de tijd. De vorm van het boek, een roadtrip van een man met zijn zoon door het zuiden van de Verenigde Staten, met flashbacks naar vroeger, is mooi en ontroerend en is de perfecte achtergrond voor de boodschap. Toch is de vorm niet bedacht. Als je het boek leest, heb je het gevoel dat de schrijver het in trance geschreven moet hebben. De filosofische, haast wiskundige uitwijdigen over wat kwaliteit is, zijn lastig, maar kan je ook overslaan. Maar de discussie of dit uberhaupt een filosofisch boek is, doet er niet toe. Het gaat om de boodschap.

In many ways the best book ever written...If like Henrique Macedo Juca you give it only 1 star then you just dont understand the magnitude of this wonderful book!! Read it..!!
