Ear diseases are one of the most common problems in veterinary medicine, but are often misdiagnosed and mismanaged due to inadequate visualization of the ear. Oto-Endoscopy in Small Animal Medicine and Surgery is written as a practical manual, and outlines the endoscopic approach to diagnosing and managing ear disease in small animal practice. It will be of value both to those with limited or no experience of endoscopy of the ear, as well as more experienced practitioners. It discusses set up of the endoscope for ear disease, practical considerations for use, and showcases a range of ear conditions diagnosed and managed endoscopically. It also shows use of the endoscope as an adjunct to surgery, either via the ear canal or through the bulla. Each topic and condition is demonstrated using high resolution images, and links to online videos. Edited by Dr Kureshi, a veterinarian with over two decades of experience in ear endoscopy, and Prof Bhutta, a world renown expert in human ear surgery, makes this a first of its kind, an indispensable reference for basic and advanced practitioners in the field. There is no previous book on ear endoscopy in veterinary medicine, but this is definitely an emerging and establishing field. The two lead editors ran the first endoscopic ear surgery course for small animals in the USA in 2021, which was well attended and had excellent feedback. Editors were asked to run the same course in the US in 2022, and are considering running the course in the UK and Brazil in the near future. They believe endoscope is the gold standard for diagnosis of ear disease, and those utilising such tools in their practice is set to grow. Oto-Endoscopy in Small Animal Medicine and Surgery appeals to dermatologists, internal medicine specialists, surgeons, radiologists, and neurologists, and several specialty groups.
