Résumé

In the year 844 AD, during the Viking Age (793–1066 AD), Harald "Ironfist" Eriksen, a fierce Danish chieftain, leads his tribe from their Scandinavian homeland amid population pressures and a favorable climate driving expansion. Historically, Vikings raided and traded across Europe, including interactions with Muslims via the Volga route and Mediterranean incursions. Harald, believing in Odin’s will to spread Viking seed for eternal warriors in Valhalla, embarks on a southern voyage. His longships, equipped with square sails and clinker-built hulls, carry warriors armed with axes, swords, and round shields. They raid Christian Asturias before clashing with Muslim forces in Al-Andalus (Islamic Spain). Capturing women during raids, Harald enforces a doctrine of breeding to ensure dominion, fathering heirs with captives to blend bloodlines and strengthen his legacy. Initial successes in Lisbon and Cadiz lead to the bold assault on Seville, where they face Emir Abd ar-Rahman II’s organized army. Amid pillaging, Harald encounters Fatima, a resilient Muslim woman, sparking a complex attraction. As battles rage, Harald’s men spread their seed among captives, embodying Viking customs of polygamy and slave concubinage. Defeat looms at Talyata, but Harald negotiates, incorporating historical elements like Greek fire and post-raid embassies. this sets the stage for Harald’s quest, blending raids, trade, and cultural exchanges with Muslims, while delving into Viking beliefs in fate, honor, and the afterlife. As his tribe faces defeat, Harald vows to return stronger, ensuring their seed endures through conquest and progeny, forging a path toward lasting dominion.
