The Hollow Darkness - The Hollow Darkness-Chapter 1: Return to Silence
Résumé
Daniel Sharpe hated villages.
The silence. The staring. The way the trees whispered your name when no one was around.
But this wasn’t just any village. This was Darkvale.
The place where his uncle Martin Sharpe had lived & died.
Burned alive.
In a locked room.
With no way out.
Daniel stepped off the rusted local bus with only a duffel bag and the letter Martinl had mailed him two weeks before the fire.
“Come quietly. No questions. Just know this: the fire was never an accident.”
That letter now lived in Daniel’s coat pocket like a heartbeat he couldn’t ignore.
The villagers watched him from behind faded curtains. Old men with hollow eyes. Children who stopped mid-laughter. As if they recognized something in him — something he couldn’t yet see.
At the edge of the village stood the remains of the school.
Charred bricks. A metal gate hanging from one hinge.
No grass grew near it.
And above the crumbled wall, a child’s face.
Half-burned.
Watching him.
But when Daniel blinked, it was gone.
