Arriving in the Navtiko Federation, the agents are unexpectedly accosted by two federation soldiers. When the resulting altercation leaves both soldiers dead, the agents have to leave the spaceport immediately. Taking the best option available to them, they accept the help of an overconfident, poorly skilled freighter pilot with the intention of finding a better pilot at the next port.

But having caught the attention of the authorities, this initial encounter causes a chain-reaction of problems, and they have to use all their skills, thinking on their feet, to evade capture, so they can arrive at their rendezvous and complete their mission.
