The Psalter un témoin de l'origine divine de la Bible
Résumé
Excerpt from The Psalter: A Witness to the Divine Origin of the Bible
This volume consists of a course of lectures delivered before the Theological Seminary and Rutgers College, New Brunswick, N. J., in the months of April and May last. The General Synod of the Reformed Dutch Church having seen fit to appoint the author to be Lecturer, on the Vedder Foundation, at a time when he was out of the country, and had neither expressed nor felt any wish on the subject, he felt constrained to accept the position, notwithstanding the fact that the pecuniary support of the Foundation had totally failed. The general subject of the lectureship is stated by the founder to be, "The present aspects of Modern Infidelity, including its cause and cure." The best "cure" of Infidelity is the study of the sacred volume which it rejects. With a view to promote this, the author selected a theme in the line of his recent studies, and treated it to the best of his ability. He is not aware that the argument here set forth has ever been handled in any separate volume. If, as thus presented, it shall satisfy any wavering minds, or if it shall prompt abler writers to a fuller and more convincing discussion of its varied aspects, he will be abundantly content.
