Samenvatting

This is a superbly illustrated exploration of the small-scale works of Robert Klippel, one of Australia's most renowned sculptors. It features dedicated mailing and e-mail campaign to targeted art related media & organisations. Recognized as one of the most inventive sculptors of the post WW II Australian art scene, Robert Klippel was best known for his abstract assemblages that were often made from found items, including discarded foundry patterns, plastic model parts, and other materials such as tin and foil (hence the cover style). Klippel/Klippel: Opus 2008 is a lavishly illustrated catalogue which perfectly captures the unique and compelling sensory experience of the exhibition held at the National Gallery of Victoria from August to November 2008, which presented a group of Robert Klippel's small-scale sculptures produced during the 1980s and 1990s - some of which have never been on public display before. It also includes the monumental bronze work Number 709, which was finished posthumously by Klippel's son Andrew, an acclaimed contemporary musician who also designed the audio soundscape that accompanied the exhibition. Metallic foil cover with embossed title and embossed paper wrap-around this title.
