Fear, shame, and secrecy enshroud victims of physical and sexual abuse. In the 1950s, society offered few means of escape for women and children. Many victims stayed silent.

Such is the case for Sarah Garvey and her three children. After marrying Hugh and giving birth to two girls and a boy, Sarah sees Hugh’s true colors. He goes on violent rampages, fueled by alcohol. Embarrassed by the horrible beatings, she keeps quiet. Her children face similar abuse and shame. When Sarah finally learns the awful truth, the damage to her family has been done.

Fast-forward decades later. Sarah has passed away. An inebriated Hugh is in a horrific car accident. His son vanished long ago. His estranged daughters are the only ones left to make medical decisions for him. When faced with their father’s ailing condition, will they find the strength to forgive?
