Excellent geschreven boek. Een van de belangrijkste punten uit het boek is dat het (vanuit prestatieoogpunt) belangrijk is om voldoende te trainen op matige en hoge intensiteit. Dus niet enkel rustige duurlopen. De auteur bewijst deze stelling met talloze studies die hij citeert. Een beetje medische of wetenschappelijke voorkennis kan nuttig zijn, maar is niet absoluut noodzakelijk. Nuttig is dat op het einde van elk hoofdstuk de conclusies van elk hoofdstuk worden samengevat. Krachttraining ter blessurepreventie en om de prestaties te verbeteren wordt eveneens besproken.
