I have been using this book in my Ethics and Sustainability course at Durham College and truly love the book. Students are taken on a journey to learn more about how system thinking helps structure the change process. They are able to get a clear overview of how the process works and how they can influence it themselves. I am really happy to apply it in my classes as it sparks useful and impactful discussion. The book is well written and provides lots of great examples in multiple sectors. Thank you for sharing your wealth of knowledge and insights.
Grote vraagstukken worden in dit boek begrijpelijk gemaakt. Dat zet aan om in actie te komen. Bovendien geeft het boek volop handvatten voor die actie en illustreert dat met wat er gaande is in acht verschillende sectoren: Van landbouw tot toerisme en van textiel tot de energiesector. Waardevol!
andere nog niet. Dit is een heel mooi boek om de context rond transitieprojecten beter te begrijpen. In welke fase van verandering zit je, welke tegenkrachten heb je en wat is dan maximaal haalbaar? Aanbevolen voor alle veranderaars en strategische denkers.
Boeken lezen, dat doe ik met enige regelmaat (zo'n 25 per jaar) en de meeste boeken lees ik in max een dag of drie uit en doen me niet zoveel.... bij dit boek was het helemaal anders. Dit is een boek wat mij echt beet heeft gepakt, waar ik in mijn hoofd echt bezig mee ben geweest en wat mij een heel nieuw perspectief heeft gebracht. Zonder te veel te spoilen....het boek schets eerst een algemeen beeld en een theoretisch kader dat heel duidelijk en in kleine stapjes wordt uitgelegd. Daarna wordt dit kader door domeinspecialisten over 8 branches heen gelegd waardoor je de theorie echt nog veel beter gaat begrijpen maar waardoor je een enorm inzicht krijgt in de uitdagingen mbt duurzaamheid per branche. Ik heb zelf inzicht gekregen in wat ik kan doen om te verduurzamen maar ook een veel beter inzicht gekregen in hoe ik een bijdrage zou kunnen leveren aan het verduurzamen van het hele systeem. Boek is realistisch geschreven, zonder het blinde activisme wat je bij duurzaamheidsfanaten nog wel eens ziet. Boek is een aanrader voor ondernemers/CEO's, mensen die werken bij NGO's irt verduurzaming, mensen die werken bij de (lokale) overheid en een rol hebben in strategische visievorming of verandermanagement.
Een boek die zonder teveel academische feiten probeert te vertellen wat er allemaal fout gaat in onze wereld op het gebied van duurzaamheid. Het is makkelijk te lezen, maar het had ook zo bij fictie geplaatst kunnen worden. Het verhaal dekt verre van de lading over "de game" die veranderd moet worden.
