Michel Faber
Michel Faber (1960) is een Australisch-Nederlandse schrijver. In Schotland (het land waar hij momenteel woont) wordt hij gezien als een Schotse schrijver. Toen in 2001 zijn roman The Crimson Petal and the White (Lelieblank, scharlakenrood) werd gepubliceerd, stelde zijn uitgever Caonongate voor om de Britse nationaliteit aan te vragen zodat de roman mee kon dingen naar de Booker Prize. Zijn werk kan beschreven worden als surealistisch. Grote thema's in het leven zoals sterfelijkheid is sterk aanwezig. Faber heeft aangegeven dat The Book of Strange New Things (Het boek van wonderlijke nieuwe dingen, 2014) zijn laatste roman is. Al is niet iedereen ervan overtuigd dat deze geboren schrijver zichzelf kan weerhouden van het schrijven van een nieuw boek.
