Storm dragon Rane is thrilled. He's been assigned a liaison from the ranks of the witches, someone who'll show him around, helping to educate him on the inner workings of the dragons' new home. He couldn't ask for more. One of the youngest dragons to escape their homeworld, he longs for more responsibility to prove that he's not useless just because he didn't fight in the war. Now he's got it, and to his delight, he finds himself enjoying the gorgeous witch's presence.

Natasha thought she could handle the mission, but as she spends more time with the hunky Rane, she begins to doubt everything she's been taught about the dragons. Worse still, she finds herself developing feelings for him. Everything falls to pieces when she tries to back out of the mission, only to find that the biggest danger to her life—and Rane's—might not be outside the walls of Winterspell, but within…
