Donna Tartt heeft een overdadige verhaaltrant en is hier en daar een beetje moeilijk te volgen. De stories zijn echter geweldig goed, meeslepend en spannend. Ze is soms ook erg somber over het leven en haar hoofdpersoon in dit boek heeft het erg moeilijk met zichzelf en met zijn omgeving en met wat hij heeft doorgemaakt, Toch boeit dit boek tot het eind en je kunt het maar moeilijk neerleggen.
Simply BRILLIANT!, yes complex plot but not dificult to follow ...all in all a GREAt book that gave me great pleasure; Theo is very real and likable.

Uitgebreide sfeerbeschrijvingen zoals we ook gewend zijn bij De Kleine Vriend, ik vind dit wederom een prachtig boek.
well written with an immense speed, absolute must read . Amazing insight in the brain workings of a 13 year old. Real page turner
Thrilling book, a real page turner! The first chapter is very descriptive, but after that the story develops real fast. The last few chapters are based in Amsterdam - my home town - which made is even more fun to read. The only reason I'm not giving the book five stars, is because the end could have been more climaxing.

Na De verborgen geschiedenis en De kleine vriend wederom een page turner van Tartt. De details, de meeslependheid van het verhaal, je wilt steeds maar weer weten hoe het verder gaat. Dat maakt het moeilijk het boek neer te leggen. De prachtige zinstructuren, de diepe indruk die de emoties en belevenissen van de karakters achterlaten. Schrijnend en spannend, hartverscheurend en prachtig.
