Productbeschrijving

Lewis Wallace—general, lawyer, governor, diplomat, politician, and one of the bestselling authors of all-time—is most widely known for his classic historical adventure story, Ben-Hur: A Tale of the Christ. Lew Wallace took up writing as a diversion from studying for law school and went on to write Ben-Hur, a book that has been called "the most influential Christian book of the nineteenth century" and one of the world's most beloved novels.

Included in The Lewis Wallace Collection are the following illustrated classics:

Ben-Hur: A Tale of the Christ (1880),
The Fair God; or, The Last of the 'Tzins: A Tale of the Conquest of Mexico (1873), and
The Prince of India; or, Why Constantinople Fell (1893)

Ben-Hur is an adventure story of revenge and redemption told from the perspective of a Jewish nobleman named Judah Ben-Hur. In 1900, Ben-Hur became the best-selling American novel of the 19th century, surpassing Harriet Beecher Stowe's Uncle Tom's Cabin.

The Fair God is a popular historical novel focusing on Cortez's conquest of Mexico as its central theme. The Fair God was based on William H. Prescott's History of the Conquest of Mexico.

While Ben-Hur was his best-selling novel, Wallace considered The Prince of India; or, Why Constantinople Fell as his best novel.

This extensive volume includes numerous illustrations for reader enjoyment and an interactive table of contents and to aid in reader navigation.
