Vicky Hampton's working lunch recipes for your office kitchen

I wish I ordered this book sooner! Vicky Hampton's Working Lunch is perfect, whether you work in an office or at home. I love how she outlines the recipes; they are meant for one person and are written in a way that makes it easy to assemble (i.e. you don't need measuring cups or fancy kitchen equipment). However, you can easily adjust the serving sizes, so that you can prepare a delicious meal for your colleagues, too. The combinations are delightful. I'd highly recommend this book to anyone who is looking for new, healthy, and easy-to-make recipes. You could even use them for dinner or appetizers. A must!

Geen moeilijke recepten, toch verrassend door een paar bijzondere ingrediënten of ongekende combinaties (alles te vinden in de supermarkt, oef!). Pluspunten vind ik ook het kleine formaat van het boekje en de smakelijke foto's bij elk recept. Leuk kado voor de kersverse student of voor wie een (nieuwe) job start!

This cookbook is incredible! The author and chef, Vicky Hampton did an amazing job creating such delicious recipes that are not only impressive, but also really easy to put together. What I like most about this cookbook is that these are recipes I can see myself eating on a daily basis. Healthy, quick to whip up, and tasty. Now I can create a meal at work in a jiffy and actually enjoy what I'm eating. In particular some notable recipes that really stand out are the couscous salad with dried fruit and nuts, as well as the fig prosciutto salad. There are some really yummy desserts I'm dying to try out as well such as marinated strawberries. All of the recipes are easy to follow and use ingredients you would most likely already have in your fridge/pantry, which I love. There are photos for every recipe and lots of humorous commentary. I definitely recommend picking up this fabulous book because it will spice up your meal plan in no time. Super worth it.

1. Gave this book to my sister-in-law whose kitchen was being refurbished, leaving her without a kitchen for an entire summer;
2. Gave this book to multiple expat friends who struggle to appreciate the Dutch "broodje kaas" lunch style;
3. Gave this book to my cousin before she moving out of her parental home into a students' house; and
... of course gave one to myself. YUM.

I'm not much of a cook, so believe me when I say I can use all the help I can get. 'Working Lunch' is a handy way to have a delicious and satisfying meal without long preparation times, elaborate tools, or even talent. Strongly recommended for anyone who wants to eat real food, but doesn't have the time for long preparations. Excellent, simple recipes, clear instructions, and spectacular results. Can't possibly ask for more. Buy this book and say goodbye to boring lunches forever.
