"Jonathan Holslag (Sint-Niklaas, 15 juni 1981) is een Belgische politicoloog en Chinakenner. Jonathan Holslag studeerde na zijn humaniora aan het Salvatorcollege van Hamont voor regent geschiedenis en Nederlands. Hij was van 2002 tot 2004 leraar geschiedenis middelbaar onderwijs aan het Sint-Hubertuscollege te Neerpelt.[1] Nadien studeerde hij geschiedenis en behaalde het masterdiploma internationale betrekkingen aan de VUB. Vervolgens schoolde hij zich bij in defensie en geopolitiek aan de Koninklijke Militaire School te Brussel. Hij promoveerde in 2011 tot doctor aan de VUB op het proefschrift China’s regional dilemma:An Inquiry into the Limits of China’s Economic and Military Power of Een onderzoek naar de limieten van de economische en militaire macht van China.[2]
