The endless crossovers, 'The X-men are now an army' (with Scott as the General) and 'The Scott And Emma Show' dominating nearly every X-title is what finally drove me a away after decades of collecting the X-men. I never understood why everybody supported Scott's 'vision' in the first place. The trend this century has mostly been to sacrifice the plot in service of marketing and crossovers, no matter what.
Then this title came along. I decided to give it a chance, even though I am not a big Bendis fan. So far I am liking what I am reading. The X-men have finally realised that following the General (Scott) blindly is not the way.
I am not a big fan of the original X-men specifically, but Jean is my favourite X-men ever and when she was killed off yet again during Planet X I was not amused, to put it mildly.
So that's what I like about this series: Jean is back and the General is finally persona non grata. Let's see what happens next...
