The human heart that yearns for passionate love, faithfulness, intimacy, but instead rent asunder time and again by deceit, faithlessness, even violence, perhaps, make up the supreme ironies of life.
"Compositions of Me" by Shermell K. Ward echoes just the kind of failed relationships to the fore, noting the anxious pain such situations bring, especially within the trappings of marriage.
Ms. Ward's poems also depict dreamlike lines pertaining to the Katrina hurricane, as well as the violence and poverty prevailing on the streets of Africa.
