Excerpt from book: On this 25th day of November, 1914, Governor Eberhart duly issued and caused to be filed in the office of the Secretary of State his proclamation as follows: STATE OF MINNESOTA EXECUTIVE DEPARTMENT PROCLAMATION Whereas. The Legislature of the State of Minnesota, by an act entitled: "An act proposing an amendment to Article Eight of the Constitution of the State of Minnesota, to authorize the setting apart certain of the state's lands as state forests;" proposed to the legal voters of said state for their approval or their rejection an amendment to Article Eight (8) of the Constitution of the State of Minnesota, which amendment when so approved shall be known as Section Seven (7) of said Article Eight (8), and shall read as follows: "Such of the school and other public lands of the state as are better adapted for the production of timber than for agriculture may be set apart as state school forests, or other state forests, as the Legislature may provide, and the Legislature may provide for the management of the same on forestry principles. The net revenue therefrom shall be used for the purposes fo"r which the lands were granted to the state." And Whereas, It appears from the official canvass of the votes cast at the last general election held in the State of Minnesota, on the third day of November, 1914. for and against the aforesaid Constitutional Amendment, made in conformity with the law, that a majority of all the electors voting at such election upon said amendment voted for its adoption; chapter{Section 4Now.
