Adam Young is an eleven year old boy that is fond of pirates, cowboys and spacemen. He doesn’t know it yet, but he is also the Antichrist, Spawn of Satan and the Lord of Darkness that will herald the end of the world.
‘Good Omens’ is truly a fabulous book that brings fun to an entirely new level. Pratchett and Gaiman were still early in their careers when they wrote this book and have since grown to two of the most accomplished writers on the scene today. ‘Good Omens’ was their first and last collaboration, which is all the more reason to cherish this unique gem of a book. The combination of Gaiman’s wonderful eloquence with the unbounded wit of Pratchett has resulted in this marvelous masterpiece. All characters, every single one of them, are simply great! In particular the angel of heaven Aziraphale and the serpent from hell Crowly, who have grown quite attached to the world and are not about to have it destroyed, carry the story with flying colors. Ever wondered what it would be like if an angel and a demon joined like a bickering couple to get drunk together? Find out with this book! Who would have ever guessed that Armageddon could be so endearing? The humor throughout is not of the joke-and-punch-line kind, but is more implicit and emanates from hilariously silly circumstances and dialogues. It is a true joy to try and spot as many of the extraordinarily amusing references that permeate the story. ‘Good Omens’ is sure to leave you a happier person!
