Unieke sound uit NL

Voor deze prijs zijn 13 albums van Focus een koopje. De 1e 4 albums alleen al zijn de prijs meer dan waard. Magistrale combinatie van gitaar, keyboard en soms dwarsfluit. Een ook in die tijd unieke band die rock, jazz en klassiek feilloos met elkaar wist te combineren. En wat is Hocus Pocus van het 2e album toch een bizar geweldig nummer. Geluid, productie en mastering vind ik gewoon prima. Zeker niet te hard ( brick walling). Het bijgeleverde boekje bevat alle info over alle 13 albums. Must voor muziekliefhebbers!

Focus Remastered Or Not, That Is The Question.

Weer een fantastische nederpop boxset van Red Bullit en ook nu weer alle albums compleet met opgepoetst geluid. De hoesjes zijn helaas niet van dezelfde stevige kwaliteit als die van de Earring complete maar dat mag de pret niet drukken. Ik las trouwens dat iemand meende dat de cd's niet geremasterd zijn maar dat zijn ze wel degelijk, deze keer niet door QS sound lab uit Hoorn maar door Qpoint Hilversum (Dutch audio mastering studio) en zij blazen oude muziek weer nieuw leven in en met resultaat mag ik wel zeggen. Puik werk!

Prima muziek natuurlijk. Al houdt het, voor mij althans, op bij "Hamburger concerto". Later komen de "vrienden" nog een keer bij elkaar met een niet spraakmakend album ("Focus") en Thijs van Leer probeert later met andere musici het oude Focus nog wat leven in te blazen ten bate van zijn pensioen(?). Ik snap helemaal niets van deze heruitgave-boxjes. Let op QS Sound Lab remastert NIET! Zelfs in LFL is de recensent ervan overtuigt dat de box van de Earring geremasterd is. Nee dus! Soms is een LP toegevoegd, die nog nooit op CD is verschenen. Dan weer betreft het single A- of B-sides of soms, wel zo leuk, een of twee hele CD's met allerlei niet eerder op CD uitgebrachte opnames. Echter nooit compleet. Soms worden de live- albums ook uitgesloten. Bij deze Focus-box is alleen de CD "The best of ..." bijgesloten terwijl er ook een tweede deel bestaat. Geen andere nog niet eerder uitgebrachte tracks. Geen verassingen dus. De geluidskwaliteit is goed, maar ik doe de Japanse persingen toch echt niet weg. Ik heb de Japanse Victor-uitgave van "Hamburger concerto" vergeleken met die uit deze box en de geluidskwaliteit is aanmerkelijk beter. Kan iemand me a.j.b. uitleggen wat de strategie en de bedoeling is van deze Q-Sound-Lab-releases?

Ik las dat iemand meende dat de cd's niet geremastered zouden zijn maar dat zijn ze wel degelijk en met resultaat mag ik wel zeggen. Deze keer niet door Qs soundlab maar door Q point (audio mastering studio) en zij zorgen er voor dat oude muziek weer nieuw leven word ingeblazen. De hoesjes zijn helaas niet van de zelfde stevige kwaliteit als de hoesjes van de Earring boxset maar dat mag de pret niet drukken. Al met al zeer tevreden.
