Forced back to her roots by a violent attack against her family, Dr. Andrea Parker must return to a Colorado hometown that she had purposefully left behind. As Green Hill police investigate the shooting of her brother and the kidnapping of his wife, it becomes evident that Dr. Parker is also a target. She must take a leave from her complacent life in Seattle in hopes of sorting things out. To complicate matters, the lead detective on the case joined the investigation only with great reluctance. He was part of the past from which Andrea had walked away. He is torn. Wanting to distance himself, Detective Luke Kith feels his professional call to duty and protection as well as a lingering desire to rekindle what once was.Instead of a resolution, events begin to make less sense to Andrea. There doesn’t seem to be progress toward solving the case. Her life seems unable to return to the secure, routine she cherished.Is this new vulnerability creating a false sense of need?
