This book will commemorate the 25th anniversary of the Izatt-Christensen Award, which has been presented since 1991 at the annual meeting of the International Symposium on Macrocyclic and Supramolecular Chemistry (ISMSC). This competitive annual award recognizes excellence in macrocyclic/supramolecular chemistry and is given to individuals who have made significant contributions in these fields.

The book will feature contributions from a host of eminent workers in the field, individuals who have been prominent in developing macrocyclic and supramolecular chemistry to reach the prominent position it enjoys today in creative science. Professor Jean-Marie Lehn, recipient of the 1987 Nobel Prize in Chemistry will contribute an introductory chapter on the history of supramolecular chemistry. The following chapters will be written by recipients of the Izatt-Christensen award, presenting a review of their research in macrocyclic and supramolecular chemistry, thus providing researchers and students with a comprehensive overview of the scientific and historical evolution of the field in the last 25 years.
