"My Story - An Autobiography" captures a lifetime of personal memories and special moments. The urge to tell “My Story” originated while looking through an album of nearly forgotten photographs taken by my parents well over a half century ago. The fading black and white images conjured up memories of my years growing up in northern Illinois. While paging through that album I thought; wouldn’t it be nice to preserve these cherished memories of my childhood. And, that’s when the idea came to me - I’m retired…why not use the spare time to write an autobiography that could be shared with family and friends. The more I thought about it, the more compelling that notion was. There was plenty of material to work with. Boxes in my office were stuffed with reminders of the past. There were old family photographs, newspaper clippings, memorabilia, and an assortment of personal “treasures” that could be helpful in writing this autobiography. “My Story” reconnects with my childhood and revisits noteworthy events that helped shape and enrich my life - the special times spent playing with cousins in our world of make-believe up in grandma’s attic…surviving my first day of kindergarten…working with my father and uncles in their shoe store…facing the challenges of college…leaving close friends behind and moving to Massachusetts to begin a new job…meeting my life-partner for the first time…and becoming a grandfather, then watching our nine grandkids grow-up way too fast.
