The European edition of the refuse exhibition carries into new territory a twenty-year effort by the Arango Design Foundation to convey a vital message: that design and the skills of designers largely determine the ease and joy of the man-made world; that they matter deeply to millions. Having devoted two decades to the dissemination of this idea through nine exhibitions in fifteen North American museums, the Foundation is grateful to have found in Natascha Drabbe and Cultural Connections those who share our passionate commitment to consumer design awareness. The international tour of refuse will now dramatically extend the Foundation's reach and with it the new definition of design excellence which this exhibition embodies.
