Vikram Seth
Vikram Seth werd geboren in India in 1952. Hij studeerde filosofie, politicologie en economie in Oxford, en later in Stanford en Nanjing. Hij schreef drie romans: A Suitable Boy (1993); The Golden Gate (1986) (De Golden Gate) en An Equal Music (1999) (Verwante stemmen). Verder publiceerde hij vijf dichtbundels en een reisverslag. Medio 2005 verscheen een nieuw boek van zijn hand waarvan de titel luidt Two lives, in Nederland verschenen onder de titel Twee levens. Het is het levensverhaal van zijn oom Shanti en zijn tante Henny Cairo, een joodse vrouw die 'Shanti-oom' begin jaren dertig in Berlijn leerde kennen toen hij daar tandheelkunde studeerde.
Seth's magnum opus A Suitable Boy verscheen in het voorjaar van 2008 in de vertaling van Christien Jonkheer en Babet Mossel onder de titel De geschikte jongen (ruim 1400 pagina's dundruk). Op bol.com vind je alle boeken van Vikram Seth, waaronder het nieuwste boek van Vikram Seth.
