Kathy Reichs' eerste thriller Dejà Dead (ook verschenen als Bot voor bot) maakte haar meteen beroemd. Het werd een New York Times-bestseller en won in 1997 de Ellis Award for Best First Novel. Haar Temperance Brennan-reeks bestaat uit Fatale dag (ook Dag des oordeel en Death du Jour), Fatale keuze, Fatale vlucht, Fatale geheimen, Fatale vondst, Fatale maandag, Begraven beenderen, Gebroken, Duivelsbotten (ook wel Met duivels genoegen), 206 Botten, Spinnebotten, Van vlees en bloed en Bones voor altijd. In 2010 lanceerde Dr. Reichs Virus, het begin van een serie jeugdthrillers. Inmiddels schreef ze ook Aanval (2011) en Code (2012). Kathy Reichs is geboren en getogen in Chicago, waar ze afstudeerde aan Northwestern. Ze heeft een eredoctoraat van Concordia University in Montreal. Tegenwoordig verdeelt ze haar tijd tussen Charlotte, North Carolina, en Montreal.
