The author identifies the importance of the garden to Japanese art throughout history, tracing its development from ancient Chinese prototype to early Japanese gardens to the Tea Gardens and finally to modern gardens.
The flowering of Far Eastern culture and philosophy as seen through the remarkable gardens they gave rise to.
