De auteur presenteert de menselijke anatomie op overzichtelijke wijze. Spiergroepen worden van elkaar onderscheiden door uiteenlopende kleuren. Alles wordt in het werk gesteld om de ingewikkelde materie zo correct en duidelijk mogelijk weer te geven. Het boek is bestemd voor kunstenaars en kunststudenten en is naast anatomische atlas ook een didactisch verantwoord leerboek met een mooie opbouw van de stof. Uiterst nuttig is verder het gebruik van figuren die opgebouwd zijn uit blokken in de illustraties om de plasticiteit te benadrukken.
