In '61 richt Roek Willemze zijn Roek Williams and The
Fighting Cats op. De groep streeft een Beatles-geluid na, hetgeen haar goed lukt. Tot '67 blijft de
groep ongewijzigd. Met de komst van organist Fred van Zegveld gaat de groep Roek's Family
heten. Will Luikinga (sax en fluit) komt in '68 de groep versterken en Steve Allet (werkelijke naam
Cock Merkelbach) vervangt Roek. De naam wordt in '69 gewijzigd in Ginger Ale. De formatie wordt
in '70 opgeheven. Roek Williams behaalt alleen en als Michael in het duo Mike and Michael,
Nederlands- en Engelstalige hitparadesuccessen. Verder werkt Roek als producer en talentscout
(o.a. van Alexander Curly). Richard de Bois wordt producer (Jan Akkerman, Dizzy Man's Band); Will
Luikinga werkt als producer en deejay bij Radio Veronica en Steve Allet zingt nog een blauwe
maandag bij Ekseption.
