Wanneer je geïnteresseerd bent in fundamentalisme is dit boek een must-have. Bruce stelt dat iedere religie fundamentalisme voort kan brengen, maar dat er wel bepaalde factoren zijn die dit waarschijnlijker maken. Ook stelt hij dat fundamentalisten niet 'gek' of 'irrationeel' zijn. Om deze reden wordt er vaak naar dit werk verwezen.
