Safiya Sinclair debuteerde met de bekroonde dichtbundel Cannibal. Ze ontving o.a. een Whiting Writers' Award, de American Academy of Arts and Letters Addison M. Metcalf Award in Literature, en een Provincetown Fellowship. Ze publiceert regelmatig in The New Yorker, Granta en The Nation.
