Tempest Miller's life has just taken a turn for the bizarre. Normal seventeen-year-old girls would be obsessing over the upcoming prom, hanging out with friends, gossiping, and fawning over guys. Tempest, however, is by no means normal. She travels around the continent to go to the most prestigious academic schools, and she never lingers in one place for long. Her peers and teachers consider her a genius, but what good is it to be a genius when she has no friends? Her life can get a little boring when "you're invisible personified." She should be used to the feeling of isolation . but she isn't, and a little more of her dies when she leaves for yet another town. Tempest's loneliness and depression are forgotten, though, when she moves to the small and seemingly quiet town of Ferguson, New Hampshire. At her new high school, she meets the delightfully wacky Melissa Montana and Woody Garrison, not to mention the devilishly handsome Avery Johnson. He immediately captivates Tempest, but fate has an odd way of presenting itself, because her new enemy, Hillary the Hun, is Avery's girlfriend. She hatches a plan to take Avery for her own, but in the process becomes wrapped up in a scandal that's way over her head. Something sinister is stirring beneath the idealistic exterior of Ferguson. Tempest had no way of knowing of just how dangerous and ironic it would all turn out to be. Amidst the whirlwind that has suddenly become her life, Tempest suddenly finds that she's torn between two (three?) very different men. But a touch of fate and a little bit of magic will determine who will come out the winner of her affections. Tempest wonders how she ever thought her life was boring .
