    Dit boek vraagt om uitgelezen te worden: de lezer wil telkens weten hoe het verhaal verder gaat. Charlotte Brontë heeft een fijne schrijfstijl en ook deze uitgave van Penguin Deluxe is erg mooi. De omslag van Toledo is zowel aan de buiten- als binnenkant prachtig en zelfs de bladzijde hebben een antieklook door de rafelige rantjes.

    Een aanrader voor mensen die van dit soort boeken houden. Het is een mooi, maar wel lang, verhaal. Het geeft een kijkje in een heel ander soort leven dan we nu gewend zijn, wat soms lastig is aangezien het niet identificeerbaar is, maar toch zijn er elementen die je in je eigen leven ook tegen komt (of tegen kan komen).
    Het boek heeft wel een klein lettertype !

    Over het algemeen is dit een goed boek, maar er staan zo veel details in dat het moeilijk is om door te blijven lezen. Het verhaal heel erg goed trouwens, erg aangrijpend.
