Marcus Chown beschrijft in duidelijke taal, met veel humor maar nog meer inzicht, hoe het heelal in elkaar steekt. Zowel op de allerkleinste, (sub)atomaire schaal, als de allergrootste, het heelal als geheel. Wiskunde komt in het boek nauwelijks of niet voor. De vele voorbeelden en analogiën die hij geeft spreken zeer tot de verbeelding, zijn taalgebruik is vlot, helder en heerlijk verstoken van moeilijk jargon. Een absolute aanrader voor iedereen die verder wil kijken dan zijn of haar neus lang is naar de werkelijke aard van alles om ons heen!
