    Geschreven bij The Shallows

    Goed geschreven met een sterke opbouwende analyse, je kan duidelijk merken dat Carr veel tijd heeft gestoken in het coherent samenvatten van enorm veel literatuur om tot zijn conclusie te komen. Het beschrijft in detail hoe we op een keerpunt van ontwikkeling in ons brein zitten zoals we dat vaker hebben meegemaakt met ontwikkeling van tijdsmeting, taal en schrift, het internet zorgt dat ons brein zich herpositioneert en aanpast maar de vraag is wat hier de gevolgen van zijn.

    Het boek leest ondanks de vele literatuurverwijzigingen (naar boeken die ik niet in alle gevallen heb gelezen) aardig weg.

    Geweldig boek! Beschrijft wat er gebeurt in onze hersenen en hoe deze processen veranderd zijn over de jaren door verschillende (technologische) ontwikkelingen. Ook al is dit boek uitgegeven in 2011, is de informatie nog steeds erg relevant. Ik zou het aan iedereen aanraden, ook als je niet de psychologische en/of technologische kennis hebt.

    Op de voorkant staat de quote, 'A profoundly sharp thinker and writer... I have not only given this book to numerous friends, I actually changed my life in response to it ' ( - by Jonathan Safran Foer), en vond dit wel erg utopisch. Maar niets is minder waar, want toen ik het boek begon te lezen, al na de eerste hoofdstukken greep het met zo, en kon ik me totaal vinden in Safran zijn beschrijving.
