Het boek geeft een goed historisch overzicht van de belangrijkste personen die op het gebied van ecologie hun sporen in het verleden verdiend hebben. Als men echter denkt, zoals ik, dat het een uitwijding over een allesomvattende theorie m.b.t ecologie is dan komt de lezer bedrogen uit. Desalniettemin het blijft zeer lezenswaardig.
