Voor al diegenen die worstelen met de omvang van Gibbons "The fall of the Roman Empire", Peter Heather heeft in een veel korter bestek hetzelfde gedaan. Dit werk is beknopter, maar nog altijd niet (te) kort. Het is een vlot geschreven, maar ook uitstekend onderbouwde en onderhoudende geschiedenis van de val van Rome. Een absolute aanrader!
