Maggie Franks has a happy, successful life in Chicago until she finds her fiance with another woman. Her heart is broken, she tries, but she just can't erase those heartbreaking memories. Leaving her job, her family, her friends, she moves to Raleigh, North Carolina to start a new life. Maggie settles into her new home and job with ease but the pain in heart is still as vivid as ever until her friends introduce her to Dan Nolan. When her ex-fiance, Brian Caine tracks her down in North Carolina and attacks her, she wants to push Dan out of her life to avoid getting her heart broken again. Finally, when she decides to press charges against Brian, Dan is at her side. On the day the verdict against Brian, Dan is in New York on business, where Maggie is supposed to be joining him for a romantic weekend, during which Dan plans to surprise her and propose. When Dan learns the verdict came in, and Maggie isn't on the plane heading to New York, he fears she will never forgive him for not being there.
