"Erich Gamma (born 1961 in Zürich) is a Swiss computer scientist and co-author of the influential software engineering textbook, Design Patterns: Elements of Reusable Object-Oriented Software. singleton-pattern is wat achterhaald
het boek van de zogenaamde gang of four is zowat HET standaardwerk als het over design patterns gaat. Jammer genoeg is het meer een catalogus van design patterns dan een boek waaruit je kan leren. Bovendien zijn de voorbeelden geschreven in de oude programmeertalen C++ en (het haast niet meer gebruikte) Smalltalk. Omdat de meeste mensen leren programmeren in Java is het andere boek (Applying UML and Patterns) een perfecte combinatie met het oerwerk. Bovendien wordt daar het volledige proces van software engineering grondig uit de doeken gedaan met tal van voorbeelden. Een ideale combinatie dus voor een inleiding in software engineering.
