There are many curses that can plague you from reoccurring sicknesses, and marital problems to repeated financial failures. Curses can visit because of relatives up your family tree because God visits the iniquities of the fathers upon the third and fourth generation.
You cannot choose your relatives any more than you can choose skin color, gender or race. Did someone in your family lineage sin against God? Mature believers don't let the demons of family members past alter their futures.
