Productbeschrijving

In december 1971 geeft The Band een reeks legendarische concerten in The Academy Of Music in New York. De vele hoogtepunten van die vier concerten en het gehele afsluitende concert dat de Canadees-Amerikaanse rockband op oudejaarsavond gaf, zijn nu verzameld in een box set. Voor ‘Live At The Academy Of Music’ zijn de originele banden van alle avonden teruggehaald en opnieuw gemixt. Daarbij zijn veel nieuwe opnames ontdekt.

De box set, die sinds vrijdag verkrijgbaar is, geeft een prachtig beeld van deze belangrijke periode in de geschiedenis van The Band. De set bevat onder andere negentien niet eerder verschenen tracks, een uitgebreid boek met foto’s, een essay van Robbie Robertson, bijdrages van Mumford & Sons en My Morning Jacket en niet eerder vertoonde beelden. De opnames zijn bovendien voorzien van nieuwe stereo en 5.1 surround mixes.

Registratie van een 4 concerten uit 1971. Hier hoor je The Band op haar best.
4 x een CD + 1 x een DVD met 3 filmopnamen van het concert. Meer filmopnamen zijn er niet. Helaas.
De meeste nummer komen meerdere keren voor. In verschillende mixen en/of van verschillende avonden.
Bob Dylan doet op de laatste avond een aantal nummers.
Je kunt wel zeggen dat de opnamen van het concert behoorlijk uitgemolken worden, al probeert Robbie Robertson in het bijbehorende boek uit te leggen dat dat niet zo is.
Als je de opnames voor minder geld wilt horen, zijn er alternatieven. Voor de echte The Band verzamelaar is deze collectie natuurlijk onmisbaar.
