Simon Sebag Montefiore (1965) is historicus, biograaf en romanschrijver. Hij schrijft voor onder meer The New York Times, The Sunday Times en The Evening Standard, en is de auteur van de romans Sashenka en Een koude winternacht, en de non-fictie-bestsellers De Romanovs,Stalin en Geschreven geschiedenis. Hij is ook een van de commentatoren van de Netflix-serie ‘The Last Czars’. Zijn boeken worden wereldwijd in 48 talen gepubliceerd en wonnen reeds verschillende prestigieuze prijzen.
