This is a very fast-paced book, where the world building is seamless. There's no need to re-read pages to see if you understand how Syd and Knox live. All you have to know is that one lives the life that is comfortable, controlled, and enviable, while the other lives in the same society, but lives the life not worth living.
The construct of "Proxy" is unique. Rather than give away the device that helps propel the story, I would offer this analogy: this story is an allegory of how society treats the rich and advantaged but subjugates the less fortunate into indentured servitude.
It's a hair-rising ride of a tale of two boys, with the redemption of one, and the salvation of another.
Alex London casts one protagonist as gay, a wrinkle that adds complexity, and for which this reviewer, who is also gay, is happy to see and read.
Without giving the end away, the last few pages provide a large twist that shouldn't disappoint. I've read this story twice now, even rated it on iTunes when I first downloaded it.
